#1 Crew - Treated Crew

The Treated Crew out of Chicago have been releasing songs ever Tuesday the last few months with a revolving cast of rappers, but the one constant from week to week has been their producer. Mano, who was the DJ for the Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne Tour has provided the Treated Crew with interesting G-Funk meets the Trap style of production (or maybe The Chronic remixed by Zaytoven).

“#1 Crew” leans a bit more Dr. Dre than Lex Luger with its gliding synths and shiny keys being perfect for a cruising in the afternoon (which is seen in the video for the song’s sample source “Hittin’ Corners” by K-Dee). The five different rappers (Sulaiman, Million $ Mano, Jon James, Mic Terror and Chuck Inglish) on the song are more than serviceable at riding the beat, but “Bartender please can I close my tab, I’d like to make it rain, but I don’t like cash, I like to see a nice sum, because I don’t like math, as long as there’s more in it than when I last checked??” from Sulaiman is an immediate highlight from the song. Treated Tuesdays, are obviously based off of fellow Chicagoan Kanye West’s GOOD Fridays, but this group of rappers and their rising producer with this series has proven to be a talent worth following (Also, they just released a collection of all of these singles yesterday).
