I’m In Miami Trick - LMAFO
I haven’t posted a song I liked in a while, so why not this one. They’re carrying a Red Bull and Vodka in their hand, so a good time is about to happen right?!
I’ve heard “Sexy and I Know It” enough to say that is a pretty great song with an appropriately ridiculous video for a song with that title. “I’m In Miami Trick” and “Shots” were the early minor hits by LMFAO before they got everyone “party rocking”. LMFAO sophomore album hits are the basic template for EDM Pop (got to get those fits pumping), but their earlier hits were only slightly more interesting. And, by interesting, I mean instead of being 4/4 beats, they sound a lot more like something from ED Banger Records circa 2006, where the term Electro was brought back to describe music less inspired by Kraftwerk, but more with distorted wobbly synths (Proto-Dubstep, not meaning UK Garage). Though I can find a space in my heart for David Guetta alongside Justice, right here I got to choice the French duo that made people create such amazing genres as Blog House instead of the poster boy for EDM. I forgot to mention the shitty lyrics, but they’re pretty shitty, but considering “You’re looking kind of cute in that polka-dot bikini girl” is said multiple times and the original song is called “I’m in Miami Bitch”. Jordan shrug.
REAL LIFE BLOG UPDATE: WHATEVA I’m still posting till I’m out of town.
I also wanted to say, that I’m not gonna be posting here for a little bit. Not because I don’t love you, but because I need to focus on another project right now, which kind of accounts for me not really writing much the last couple weeks anyway. Then, I’m going to be out of town. But, when I get back, I get to start something that should be really really really really really really really really awesome. But, that’s weeks away, before I can say more but I’m really excited about it, if the last sentence didn’t show.
Lovestoned (Justice Remix) - Justin Timberlake
Four tracks in Justice’s Cross I was reminded why I have not listened fully listened to that album in a couple years (good music, but not something I need a whole album of). Justice has a new single coming out next week, and despite never having a true hit in America (D.A.N.C.E. does not count) the sound of their music still found a way onto the radio. “Blow” by Ke$ha already has the synths of most Justice songs, so a Justice remix of that song would not be too difficult to imagine, as most Justice remixes usually at least flip songs to own recognizable synths. If Ke$ha is seen as copying of the style of Ed Banger’s Uffie, then the Cataracs must own all of their success to that record label and its 2006-2008 output. Nearly every Cataracs song (expect for the awful Snoop song “Wet“) sound like they could have been reject songs from Justice, SebastaiAn, or any other number of producers that worked under that label. Thankfully Justice’s do attempt to rap, but the synths and mood of the songs are oddly similar except for the level of quality.
“Lovestoned” is a great Pop song in its original form, so Justice in not improving on the song, offer a great variation on the track. In an awful world where Justin Timberlake’s next album is produced by Dr. Luke, this is remix offers an idea of what that combination may sound like with Dr. Luke’s garish synths replacing Justice’s more classical touches. The remix has a few more moments of Timberlake’s vocals being pushed to the forefront, and the synths sound more like violins, but overall Justice do not tamper with what makes the original song so great.
